Doesn't Remember... by Whettman Chelmets

On "Doesn't Remember...", the Joplin, Missouri-based multi-instrumentalist revisits four-track tapes he'd recorded some twenty years earlier. Essentially plundering his own phonics, these provide a starting point for seven atmospheric, constantly-changing, richly-textured mutations. Sounding something like undersea symphonies, perhaps halfway between shoegaze and vaporwave, the album rewards repeated, close listening with blissed-out glimpses of time-warped memories that feel both recognizable and completely new.

Whettman Chelmets is the solo instrumental project of Matt Clements, a musician from Midwest America. Music combines elements of post rock/electronic/ambient with pop, jazz, fugue and Romantic/Impressionist influence.
