In the heart of an ancient labyrinth, where darkness becomes the guardian of secrets and silence becomes a tangible presence, an uncertain traveler takes his first step. He doesn't know if he's walking towards salvation or towards the abyss, but every movement is like a breath seeking an answer.
At first, the light is just a distant memory, like a whisper that gets lost in the folds of the walls. His hands touch the cold stone, and in that solid consistency he finds relief, a bit of security. But the path is increasingly tortuous, the paths intertwine, move away and then rejoin, as if the labyrinth itself were playing with his mind, laughing at his hopes.
Every corner, every turn brings with it a new promise, a new hope. But that hope shatters when reality reveals itself: the wall in front of him is high, imposing, insurmountable. And yet, without stopping, without turning around, the traveler continues. Every step is a fight against uncertainty, every breath is an act of faith. His heart beats faster, no longer just from fear, but also from a blind desire to discover what lies around the next corner.
And then the sounds come, strange and distant. An echo that has no source. Maybe another lost soul, maybe just his mind playing with loneliness. He stops for a moment, but the noise is too fleeting to be grasped. Every attempt to understand seems to recede, as if the labyrinth were smiling at his impotence.
Despite the difficulties, there is a mysterious force that pushes him forward. It is like a flame that burns in his chest, despite the icy wind that blows from the unknown. Yet, as time passes, the awareness of being trapped grows. The walls become narrower, the breathing more labored. The light of the outside world dissolves, and with it any hope of escape.
In the depths of that labyrinth, the illusion of control crumbles like dust between the fingers. The traveler realizes, with a sadness that passes through him like an arrow, that perhaps his fate is sealed. Maybe there is no way out. Maybe the only true path to take is the one within oneself, the one that leads to making peace with one's solitude, with one's fragility.
When the labyrinth finally seems to lead to an end, there is no more light, no more answers. Only a deep silence, a shadow that lengthens like a hopeless embrace. And maybe, in that moment of surrender, the traveler understands that the journey was not a mistake, nor an unfortunate outcome. It was his path, his experience, his encounter with what cannot be known, with the unknown that defines us.
And in the darkness of the labyrinth, the traveler gives up, not because he has lost, but because he has found what he was looking for: himself.
