“Zindagi” is a song that came out of a brief yet brilliant encounter of 2 very diverse yet complementing music makers - Janaka Selekta and Tritha.
The lyrics in Urdu have been penned by Tritha, also the vocalist and co-composer of Zindagi which literally means Life! A personal take on the subject but also an universal resonance. Zindagi is Life as a journey that keeps moving ahead in space and time. Life, that sometimes is full of magic and sometimes interesting new meetings. Life’s paths often stumbling upon obstacles and troubles. Perhaps best to learn from those moments positively as lessons learnt than have regrets. One wonders existentially about this Life - which perhaps is just to be felt, observed and remembered as a Suhana Safar - a wonderful journey!
It's an interesting co-incidence that Janaka and Tritha made this song pretty much the 1st day they met each other for the 1st time in their lives! Zindagi is also special for both of them as the album artwork is a painting of renowned tabla player and electronic world music producer Karsh Kale, who has been a friend and mentor and connected the two diametrically opposite musical personalities. Zindagi came out as a creative result and perhaps is the newest musical star shining light in the young universe of Indian Drum & Bass.
Zindagi released on March 25, 2024 which also is the day of Holi, the festival of colours in India marking the arrival of spring, celebrating love and promoting cultural unity, bringing people together irrespective of religious or social differences - the concept very close to both collaborating artists.
