The Interloper by Vesoir

A vast underwater city. An endless downpour. An entity whose very existence is an act of rebellion against the fabric of reality itself.

Here, we follow the story of The Interloper.


The Interloper is my debut concept album, which follows the titular character’s journey through an underwater alien city. I began writing it in late 2014, shortly after deciding I wanted my music project to revolve around this character. This album serves as an introduction to The Interloper, and presents the explanation for why he must forever continue to travel, never staying in one location for very long.

To me, this is an album about escapism and wanderlust, but it’s also an album about ephemerality and entropy. I was enamored with the idea of the remnants of a society whose history now only exists as folklore, and this fragmented knowledge being imparted upon an immortal stranger via social osmosis. Even though this civilization and all verifiable information regarding it has since been lost, some vestige, small and distorted though it may be, remains.
