Make-Up by Voix in the Dark

Capturing influence from both the 1982 Vanity 6 version of “Make-Up” and the more recent release of the original Prince demo, Voix in the Dark crafts a hypnotic analog style of production while adding distinctive elements. The vocals share a seductive kinship with the original versions but add a rigid undertone with pitch layering.

In contrast, Brooklyn DJ and producer Reenna delivers a dance-pop version of “Make-Up”. With a strong emphasis on beat and rhythm, the remix is club-ready. Reenna’s production is pristine but keeps the gritty elements found in Voix in the Dark’s cover.
