2019 by Omar Bongo
Omar Bongo's release 2019 is a collection of recordings made over the course of 2019. Accompanied by Toronto based Sudanese percussionist Tarig Shanga, 2019 mixes songs from qaarami music’s golden era such as Waaqle by Omar Dhuule, alongside modern Somali pop hits such as Samiya (or Samia) by Cabdi Hani Xaashi. Omar Bongo’s live sets are essentially a jukebox of songs pulled from 30 plus years of Somali popular music and 2019 acts as a snapshot of this repertoire.
