Great Point by 1ONCE1

1ONCE1 is a collaborative music project created in 2013 by brothers Francisco and Miguel Noya. Conceived as an open musical and performance duo, the project began with the goal of appearing as a featured act at the WaterFire Festival in Providence, Rhode Island—a celebration of fire, water, and community that draws thousands of visitors with its mix of art, music, and urban ritual.
Over time, the project evolved into a space for personal and sonic exploration, allowing both artists to dive deeper into the emotional and experimental dimensions of music. Rooted in technology, the duo’s approach naturally embraces contemporary electronic music—fluid, borderless, and evolving. Think of it as open-source, progressive, generative sound.
A new chapter emerged in November 2020, when 1ONCE1 reappeared in a live-streamed performance during the height of the pandemic. That concert marked not just a reunion, but the birth of a new conceptual work: Great Point.
This project was inspired and shaped by Francisco’s deep connection to Nantucket, where he lives. The island’s vast ocean horizons, its whaling legacy, icy winters, and layers of myth and memory sparked a wave of storytelling. Using electronic music as a narrative medium, the duo composed a series of atmospheric pieces grounded in the imagery of ocean, whales, ice, fables, and fading legends.
Great Point was first performed live as a streaming event, and is now being released as 1ONCE1’s first official album—a sonic offering and an opening gesture toward future work. Each track reflects an imagined scene, character, or emotional landscape rooted in Nantucket’s haunted beauty.
This album is not a map. It’s a signal.
